King hopeful of Ustedes getting King George trip

Alan King believes there is no better opportunity to try Voy Por Ustedes over three miles than in the Stan James King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

The former Queen Mother Champion Chase winner has not attempted such a distance before but the sponsors make him the 9-2 second-favourite behind the hat-trick chasing Kauto Star.

"He won over two and a half miles at Aintree last season and there was no point carrying on the two-mile route with Master Minded still around," said King.

"Aintree gave us more options and I was very pleased with him when he ran back there under top weight on his first run this season.

"You can't guarantee he'll stay but if he's ever going to get it, it will be at Kempton.

"The more it dries out at the track the more it suits me as he is a much better horse on better ground.

"He'll either get three miles or he won't - if he doesn't we might look at the Ryanair - but the plan has always been the King George and I'm not thinking beyond it."

Charlie Mann is leaning towards running his Hennessy Gold Cup runner-up Air Force One.

The Lexus Chase was also under consideration for the rising star but Mann now has his sights set on Kempton.

"He'd have to improve a lot to beat some of the others but he's going there on a good note," the trainer said.

"He is in the Lexus Chase but he's 90 per cent likely to go to Kempton and I would think he would go there."
