Ante-post favourite Kingman will be put through his paces this weekend ahead of the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket next Saturday.

Trainer John Gosden reported the unbeaten Greenham Stakes winner to have pleased in a spin at the beginning of the week and while the Newmarket handler would appreciate some rain for the Khalid Abdullah-owned colt, he hopes it will not be too testing.

Speaking from a rain-soaked Sandown, Gosden said: "He worked nicely earlier in the week and we'll look to work him at some stage over the weekend. One would be hopeful of some rain, but we wouldn't want it to go to this."

Meanwhile Joyeuse, another owned by Khalid Abdullah, has been given the green light to take her chance in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday week.

The daughter of Oasis Dream has plenty to live up to as a half-sister to the amazing Frankel, whose extraordinary victory in the 2000 Guineas three years ago will live long in the memory.

Joyeuse, who like Frankel is trained at Warren Place, has upheld family honour admirably so far, winning twice as a juvenile and finishing a perfectly respectable third on her return in the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury.

Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "She had a pretty nice run in the Fred Darling. She was a bit slowly away but she settled very well, they didn't go a great pace. They all sprinted and she made up a lot of ground in a short space of time and then probably got a bit tired.

"Physically, it's quite difficult to quicken and then quicken again, especially off a slow pace.

"She's pleased in her work since and I think, all being well, she'll take her chance. I don't think she'd mind cut in the ground."
