Derby favourite Kingsbarns is a doubtful runner for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 4.

Aidan O’Brien is concerned about the Galileo colt making the opening classic of the season, saying at the Curragh this afternoon, “I’m worried about him for the Guineas.

“He tore a shoe in a canter at home and developed an infection three days later. That caused him to miss ten days and he’s not here to work after racing today.

“When one of mine goes for a classic without a run they really need to be here for a workout. I’m worried about him for the Guineas.”

Kingsbarns made an impressive debut at Navan last October, and really burst into the limelight when landing the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster just 17 days later.
