Kingsbarns made an impressive winning debut in the mile juvenile maiden at Navan.

With little worthwhile form on view the money for the Galileo colt, as big as evens this morning and sent off 4/11 favourite, looked significant and he duly did the business in style.

Joseph O'Brien's mount cruised into contention in the straight and was asked to quicken away from his rivals over a furlong from home.

The Ballydoyle hotpot soon went clear and could afford to ease down in the closing stages to record a seven-length success over Risk Return

"He travelled very well but he didn't have a clue what to do when he hit the front," revealed the winning rider afterwards.

"He didn't even know how to canter back after the race and I had to trot him back.

"I think he is high class but I don't know if he'll run again this year."

Paddy Power introduced the winner at 14/1 for next year's Derby, while Stan James go 20/1 for the Epsom showpiece.

The win moved Joseph O'Brien two ahead in the jockeys title with his score standing at 79 to Pat Smullen's 77.
