Kinnegad Lad completed a good day for northern trainers at Musselburgh when taking the William Hill Length Your Odds Standard Open NH Flat Race.

The Stuart Crawford-trained gelding scored under Brian Hughes and was adding to the earlier victory of Mig Des Taillons for Downpatrick-based Paddy Turley.

Kinnegad Lad showed promise on debut behind the talented Sir Gerhard at Down Royal and was sent off an 11/4 chance here against eight rivals including runners from other Irish yards of Emmet Mullins and Andy Slattery.

The 11/4 chance did his best to throw away the race when wandering about in the straight but got his act together in the closing stages to beat Mullins’ Sin A Bhfuil by half a length.
