Kirkland Lady (7/4) was prominent throughout and stayed on well to take Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden in the hands of 3lb claimer Dylan Browne McMonagle.

The daughter of Camelot had finished over seven lengths behind the 11/10 favourite Rosscarbery when they were second and fourth at Killarney last month, but when tackled by that rival on the home turn here, she found more and soon had the race in safe keeping.

At the line the winner had three and a half lengths to spare over Little Bubbles (14/1) who snatched second from the market leader in the final stride.

It was winner number thirty of the campaign for the season's leading apprentice.

Brendan Powell, assistant to winning trainer Joseph O’Brien, said: “It was a nice performance. The last time she got boxed in a little bit when dropping in and from the draw today Joseph decided to let her roll along as she stays well.

“Dylan said she didn't come down the hill great, she was a bit unbalanced. She's a big filly and learning all the time. Once she hit the rising ground she is going away from the other horse at the end.

“She can only go on from this as she's a big filly and she's going to improve all the time.”
