Kodi Bear has Jean Prat option Trainer Clive Cox reports Kodi Bear to be in excellent health after the colt made a triumphant return following a serious illness in the Listed Unibet Midsummer Stakes at Windsor on Saturday. Kodi Bear was a smart two-year-old but any dreams of a Classic campaign were shattered in the spring when the Dewhurst Stakes runner-up suffered a bad infection in his lymph drainage canal. However, the patience of the Cox stable was rewarded when Kodi Bear showed he had made a full recovery with victory in a Listed contest at the Berkshire course over an extended mile. The excellent way the son of Kodiac has taken his comeback run suggests he could step back up to Group One company in the Prix Jean Prat on July 12. "He's come out of the race really well. He's well, eaten up and is pleased with himself and naturally so are we," said the Lambourn handler. "It was great that he's taken a very positive step back. "The Prix Jean Prat is a possibility. He has an entry there so we'll just see how he is in the next few days before confirming that definitely, but first impressions are very favourable. "I was delighted the way he did it. The time of the race was very pleasing especially as they looked as though they didn't go that hard for the first three furlongs. "We're just taking it a step at a time. The race was a very big step forward after the problems he's had. I'm delighted he's come out of the race well."
