Review LISTOWEL 16th Sep

< Sesenta turned the Listowel Races Supporters Club Lartigue Hurdle into a procession in the closing stages as he careered away to win comfortably.

One of three runners for Willie Mullins, the 100-30 favourite was held up in mid-division by Ruby Walsh, who was in no hurry to play his hand.

Making stealthy headway on the home turn, he moved into the lead at the second last and soon put the race to bed.< Perfect Reward stayed on into second place, but was never going to get to the winner, who stormed to a six-length success.

Walsh completed a double when Vale Of Avocia repeated her win of last year in the Low Low EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle.< Garrai Ard looked to have stolen a convincing lead entering the home straight, but Walsh timed it right, getting the 7-1 chance on top at the last and going on to win by ten lengths.< Boulavogue led home a Charlie Swan 1-2 in the Kerry Spring Water Hurdle.

David Casey was always in the front rank on the 11-10 favourite, before running on strongly on the home straight to repel stablemate Dr Willie Martin by one and a half lengths.

Paul Nolan's Alpha Ridge showed plenty of guts to run out a hard-fought winner of the Brandon Hotel Maiden Hurdle.

Always in the front rank under Alan Cawley, the 6-1 chance strode clear at the fourth last, but had to pull out all the stops in the closing stages to beat fellow top-weight All Diamonds by a length.< El Fontan justified odds-on favouritism to land the O'Callaghan Family Hotels 3-Y-O Hurdle, but not without giving his followers a couple of minor scares.

Slightly hampered by a faller at the first, the 4-7 chance was kept in the rear by Paul Carberry and showed his class to recover from a mistake three out to win with a bit in hand, finishing two lengths in front of Hampstead Heath
