LOGICIAN TARGETS ASCOT Connections today reported Australia`s Tote Cheltenham Gold Cup hope Logician to have come out of his British debut run in good shape. A decision on the 10-year-old`s participation at the Festival will be made after the gelding has reappeared in about a fortnight, with the Shenley Enterprises Novices` Chase at Ascot a week on Saturday a possible target. Tony Noonan`s charge, currently in the care of Andrew Balding at Kingsclere, made two bad mistakes in Saturday`s Weatherbys Scilly Isles Novices` Chase at Sandown but stayed on well to finish fourth behind Best Mate. Balding said: 'He seems absolutely fine. 'He made a couple of awful mistakes but Barry (Fenton) said he gave him a really good feel in spite of that and I would have thought he`d be a lot better next time you see him. 'I thought he ran a great race considering. As Barry said he had never ridden a horse before that had made two such bad mistakes yet run so well. 'We hope to run him in a fortnight. There are a couple of options but there is a race at Ascot on February 17th that looks right for him.' Leading Royal & SunAlliance Chase candidate Behrajan, who missed his intended run at Wetherby on Saturday when the card was abandoned, could reappear this weekend. 'He`s entered on Saturday at Haydock and Newbury,' said trainer Henry Daly.
