LORD KINTYRE RETURNS TO ACTION

Lord Kintyre is back in training and set to make his seasonal reappearance at Newbury on Friday in the Spy Rated Stakes.

Trainer Rod Millman had hoped to find the 1997 Weatherbys Super Sprint winner a place at stud after his form slumped but nothing suitable came up so the five-year-old is back at his Cullompton yard.

"There wasn't anywhere suitable for him, he could have gone to Greece but instead he's been gelded and he's had a nice long rest," said Millman.

"He was getting a bit big and needed gelding if he was going to carry on. He's rated 95 which is still a bit high but we was rated about 115 when he was third in the Kings' Stand Stakes so we'll have to see.

"He's had a few problems and I haven't put him under any pressure. I don't think he's going to be a Group horse any more but we'll give him a couple of runs and see how he's enjoying himself."
