LYNCH EXPLAINS REASONS FOR QUITTING Martin Lynch, who announced last week that he is to quit the training ranks, has today expanded on the reasons that will see him hand in his licence at the end of the month. It was initially reported that Lynch, 42, was disheartened with the racing game, but the Middleton Park trainer has stressed that this is not the case.Lynch, who started training in 1993, said, 'I am far from disillusioned with the sport, in fact the opposite is the case.''However I am a realist and I simply can`t do the job that I want to do without the assistance of top class staff. This is the biggest single problem within the industry. The game is in a very healthy financial state at the moment and my reasons for bowing out now are not financial.''I will not be severing my ties with racing as my wife Susanne will be applying for a permit. This will keep my eye in and horses will continue to be trained here at Middleton Park. I hope to expand into other areas within racing in the coming months.''My owners have been very loyal throughout and although they are disappointed with my decision, they understand my reasons and have been are very supportive and considerate'.Lynch enjoyed a successful riding career that peaked in 1992 when he won the Mildmay of Flete Chase on Elfast. The smart Colonel Yeager, fourth to Hors La Loi III in the Supreme Novices` Hurdle two years ago, was the best horse he trained.
