La Cressonniere wins French 1000 Guineas Alice Springs was never able to strike a blow as La Cressonniere maintained her 100 per cent record with a clear-cut victory in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Deauville. Aidan O'Brien's strongly-fancied filly, who was third in the Qipco 1000 Guineas, raced on the outside of the pack but couldn't find the change of gear necessary to get into the mix and finished out of the frame. Cristian Demuro always had the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained La Cressonniere in a good position from her rail draw as Positive Vibration, pacemaker for another Rouget runner, Qemah, made the running. Kicking on a furlong out, La Cressonniere kept on strongly to hold the late dash of the John Gosden-trained Nathra, with Qemah third. Another British raider, the William Haggas-trained Besharah, was fourth.
