Just six went to post for the BMG Insurance Maiden Hunters Chase at Downpatrick but it provided an exciting finish with Cant Pay Wont Pay upsetting the odds-on Mullaghmurphy Blue

Jamie Codd, who was bidding for a treble on the card, drove the 8/11 favourite through on the inner to lead at the last.

However Cant Pay Wont Pay rallied strongly to such effect for Donal Delahunt on the uphill climb to the line that he eventually scored by two and three quarter lengths.

Delahunt was riding his first winner here for his father George from Naas, and is based in Scotland with Lucinda Russell.

Mullaghmurphy Blue had to settle for the runner-up spot, with the always prominent Isn’t She Lovely another three and three quarter lengths back in third.

Winning trainer Mark Fahey said, "He stuck at it well, he's a game horse. Donal gave him a great ride. His jumping can be in and out and everything went well today for him. He's very tricky early on and we are delighted for Donal.

"He actually fell the last day when the other horse of mine won, Das Mooser. It worked out well today.

"We'll keep him going, I think there is a winners of one down in Killarney in a couple of weeks time. If he's okay he will probably go for that."
