Lanigan sizes up Curragh task

Meeznah faces a stiffer task in the Darley Irish Oaks than she did in the fillies' Classic at Epsom, according to her trainer David Lanigan.

She went within a neck of giving Lanigan a dream success in the Investec Oaks last month on what was only her fourth career start.

Lanigan is in his third full season with a licence after being assistant to Henry Cecil, for whom he was involved with Light Shift who was second in the 2007 Irish Oaks after winning at Epsom.

The young trainer wants to get Meeznah to the Curragh in one piece on Sunday and is hoping there is not too much rain ahead of the race.

"Everything's gone to plan since Epsom. We'll just have to see how we get on in the few days left before the race," said Lanigan.

"You don't get any Group Ones easily and we've got it all to do. Hopefully we'll be there in one piece and then see how we get on.

"It's going to be a tougher race than Epsom was and the ground would be a worry if they get the predicted rain.

"All we can do is to get her there the best we can and it's up the gods then after that."
