Lavender Breeze (morning 7s, returned 16/1) belied a market drift to win Gowran’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden today, scoring for trainer Jessica Harrington, stable jockey Shane Foley and owner Imad Alsagar.

Placed third in two prior maiden runs, the daughter of Kodiac raced behind the leaders today and battled well for a neck win over Diego El Queso

Kate Harrington, representing her mother, reported “we’re delighted with that and she’s a filly that has just taken a little bit of time. She’s probably stepped forward from each of her runs and the way the race panned out today really suited her. They went hard, the wide draw definitely helped her, and she hit the line well.

“We’ll see what the team want to do with her, she’s going to handle a bit of ease in the ground so we might give her a shot at a stakes race. We don’t have her in the Denny Cordell (Stakes) but there are plenty of other options coming up for her.

“She’s got a beautiful pedigree and it’s nice for her to get a win out of the way. She was really good today because she has been a little bit difficult. The guys at home have done a great job with her.”
