Lavery aims Moddy Poddle at Group 3 in Gowran Park Moddy Poddle is set for a step up in class after finishing second in the Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh on Friday evening. Sheila Lavery's three-year-old filly has really hit form this summer, and was gunning for a four-timer after handicap victories in Gowran Park and Galway followed by a rated race win in Killarney. She went off 9/2 favourite for that premier handicap over a mile in Headquarters and was always prominent before being collared by Bopedro. “I was absolutely delighted with her run. She's still progressing and has pulled out of the race very well this morning (Saturday)," Lavery said. “She was still green and rolled around a bit in front. “She's in the fillies' only Group 3 at Gowran Park (Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Stakes in September) and all being well she'll turn up there. “There is also a Listed race at Listowel a few days later but she has won in Gowran before. “She deserves a crack at that level now. Then I'll talk to the owners and see if we put her away then. “She's just been progressing and is a delight to work with.” Three different jockeys have been successful on Moddy Poddle - Siobhan Rutledge, Chris Hayes and Robbie Colgan.
