Leap Of Light forges home well Jessica Harrington's Leap Of Light built upon a barrier trial success at Leopardstown when picking up the Irish EBF Auction Series Fillies Maiden on her second racecourse start at Down Royal. The 6/1 shot raced in rear of mid-division and Keith Kennedy progressed her to third approaching the final quarter of a mile. She moved into a challenging second a furlong down and finished best to get up by a head close home over this extended seven-furlong trip. Ladrona (3/1) was the horse caught close home and was just over two lengths clear of well-backed 6/5 favourite Essence Of Time. Kennedy said: "She was good there today. "Didn't really handle the track, but she would be seen to better effect on a nicer track. I was a little bit slow into stride and around here it is tricky when you are slowly away from the gates. I just got her up there as best as I could. We had a wide trip around. "She's a very honest filly, she stuck her neck out for me there today. She did it well in the end. "I rode her in the barrier, she did things really nicely that day. I just think in Naas (eighth) it was a little bit sharp for her. "She's a nice filly to look forward to. "I'd say she wants every bit of a mile. I couldn't pull her up there, she galloped out good."
