Duke Of Leggagh (9/2) enhanced his excellent Naas record today in landing the William Hill Keep Your Raceday Positive Handicap Hurdle, for owner/trainer Mick Mulvany and jockey Paddy O’Brien.

Duke Of Leggagh’s first visit to the Kildare course saw him finish second to handicap-blot and subsequent four-time Group 1 winner Paddington in the Madrid Handicap, in March 2023. Today the five-year-old followed up a recent February 8th course-and-distance win, when easily beating runner-up Gabbys Cross by eight lengths.

Mulvany reported “it was ideal conditions for the horse. He hit the last two hurdles the last day and fell-in, but he jumped a lot better today. I knew he had improved from the last day, but I didn’t think he had improved that much.

“We’ll probably go back to the Flat with him now and he really does like that ground.
