South African jockey Gavin Lerena landed a Shergar Cup double after winning on Danehill Kodiac for Richard Hannon.

While Lord Yeats and King Of Dreams set a furious gallop, Lerena rode a more patient race before allowing his mount to ease closer rounding the home turn.

Just as he had earlier, the South African rider got a dream run up the far rail in the straight and Danehill Kodiac galloped all the way to the line to score by two lengths from Combative under de Sousa.

The Wilson-ridden Real Dominion was third ahead of Against All Odds (Oisin Murphy) and Full Court Press (Martin Harley) in fourth and fifth respectively.

"It's just beautiful when these days work out like this," said the winning jockey.

"This horse gave me a fantastic ride. Everything went really smooth and he's a real trier.

"He was travelling so sweetly and finished off really nicely."

Lerena is hoping to pick up more rides during his brief stay in England.

"We're here for another week, so I'm going to head to Newmarket," Lerena added.

"It would be fantastic if I could maybe get a ride at Newmarket, that's why we're hanging around, but we have to enjoy it and have a good holiday."
