Let Her Cook lands gamble for Harvey and Sheridan Well backed throughout the afternoon, the William Harvey trained Let Her Cook landed a nice gamble when making most to win the MG Plant Sales Handicap at Ballinrobe. Available at 22/1 early doors, the daughter of Shaman was popular in the market, before eventually going off 5/1. Pushed along from her outside draw, Joey Sheridan did well to anchor the filly in front after a furlong. Making the rest, Let Her Cook kicked off the home turn and had matters in hand well over a furlong from home. Favourite Coulstys Way emerged from the chasing pack to take second close home but the winner was not for catching. It was a second racecourse winner for trainer William Harvey, father of jockeys Ben and Alex(Harvey). Joey Sheridan said: “That’s twice I’ve ridden for the Harveys, twice they’ve said to me we’d be close and two winners for them. “They are good friends of mine and fair play to them, it’s great to ride a winner for friends. “They are good operators. It was Ben that rang me earlier on and he said ‘this one is fit, she had a good run the last day but just got crowded and had to be taken out of the race’. “He said ‘leave her bowl away there and no nonsense from stall ten’ and it paid off. “I got a couple of breathers the whole way around there and down to the two I knew she was going to lengthen to the line and she found plenty.” When asked if she could win again he added: “I think so, I was trying to mind her coming to the line!” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
