Libertarian still in Leger mix

Connections of Libertarian are just "hopeful" the Investec Derby runner-up will be ready in time for the Ladbrokes St Leger on September 14th.

Simon Crisford, racing manager of owners Godolphin, has said they will not rush the colt back into action as he is going to be kept in training as a four-year-old.

Libertarian has not raced since a disappointing run in the Irish Derby after which he left Elaine Burke's stable to join Godolphin's Moulton Paddocks stables at Newmarket now in the stewardship of Charlie Appleby.

"Libertarian is now back in training and if he makes the St Leger then great, but we won't be pushing him," said Crisford.

"We're hopeful that he makes it, but we are looking forward to next year with him."
