Licks Suffers Fatal Injury Cheltenham prospect Forty Licks had to put down yesterday after breaking a leg on the gallops. The lightly-raced nine-year-old, trained by Edward O´Grady, was doing a routine canter ahead of his next outing at Naas on Sunday. 'It was one of those things. He was just doing his usual canter round the gallop and broke his leg. It´s awful,' said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus. After winning three of his four bumpers, the Supreme Leader gelding had made a highly-promising debut over hurdles when beating Travino at Naas in November only to disappoint behind that horse at Navan last month. He had been prominent in the betting for both novice hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival. ? PA Sport
