Liffey lands another Dundalk claimer The Liffey won his third claimer of the year at Dundalk when taking the opener today with a cosy success. Joey Sheridan produced his mount to challenge passing the two pole in the mile contest and he edged ahead a furlong-and-a-half out. The Denis Hogan-trained gelding was in control in the closing stages as the 2/1 favourite went on to post a three-and-a-half length success over front-runner Battle Borne. Sheridan, in the colours of James McAuley, said: "He's kind of the lads' dream horse really - he enjoys those claimers, I suppose. “They wouldn't be going over hard and he gets into a comfortable rhythm there. "When you cod him along, I didn't want to be going for the stick too early on him there, just change your hands on him. He's a grand horse. "Even though you are in front, I wanted to just get him rolling because they are not really going to get to him. Just let him roll away forward there, change your hands. Once you get him rolling, he will stay going." Imperial Fighter, who finished sixth, was claimed by Aidan Melia for €3,000. (Quotes by Michael Graham)
