Light a possible for Breeders` Cup Classic

As Galileo and Fantastic Light prepare for a second mouthwatering clash in Saturday`s Ireland The Food Island Irish Champion Stakes, it emerged that a third battle between the two could be on the cards.

Aidan O`Brien`s dual-Derby winner defeated the Godolphin-owned Fantastic Light by two lengths in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot in July over a mile.

The pair clash again over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown after which Galileo is likely to be aimed at the Breeders` Cup Classic at Belmont Park.

And Fantastic Light could join him in New York for a race in which the Dubai organisation`s Swain was beaten just a length into third at Churchill Downs in 1998, following a controversial ride from Frankie Dettori.

Godolphin`s racing manager Simon Crisford told the Times: 'People seem to be expecting us to run Fantastic Light in the Turf race in New York but he is a possible for the Classic.

'Although he hasn`t raced on sand, he trained well on itduring the winter.'

Fantastic Light could also remain in training next year as a six-year-old.

'That decision has not been made,' Crisford added. 'We have had horses older than him running well for us before now and he seems to be thriving on his racing.'

Intriguingly, Michael Tabor, part-owner of Galileo, indicated earlier this week that his star colt could also stay in training next season.
