Light prepares for Galileo clash Fantastic Light has his final piece of work at Newmarket tomorrow morning in preparation for the eagerly-awaited rematch with Galileo in the Group One Ireland The Food Island Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown next Saturday. The two featured in an epic clash for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot in July when Galileo, the Vodafone and Budweiser Irish Derby winner, prevailed by two lengths.'Fantastic Light has done well since the King George and we are very pleased with him,' Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford told the Godolphin website. The King George was over a mile and a half whereas the Leopardstown race is over ten furlongs and that could suit the Godolphin runner, although the unbeaten Galileo has won twice over the course and distance. The Irish Champion Stakes is the fifth leg in the 2001 Emirates World Series, which Fantastic Light won last year.Godolphin are considering impressive Juddmonte International winner Sakhee for the Leopardstown showpiece should the ground there turn soft.'The plan is for Fantastic Light to be our runner but we haven`t ruled out Sakhee one way or the other.'We will finalise our plans in the middle of the week when we have had a chance to see what the ground is like,' added Crisford.
