Lightning set for Curragh handicap Sweet Lightning is set to drop back from Pattern company and tackle Saturday's Emirates Equestrian Federation Handicap at the Curragh. The seven-year-old won the Lincoln at Doncaster last year, when trained by Michael Dods in England, but then missed the rest of the campaign. Now trained by Tommy Carmody, Sweet Lightning was pitched into the Group Three Amethyst Stakes on his return at Leopardstown earlier this month and ran with great credit behind course specialist Famous Name. Beaten just over four lengths, connections are eager to take advantage of his current rating of 104 before mapping out further plans. Tim Jones, racing manager to owner Andrew Tinkler, said on Thursday: "He will run on Saturday. "I saw him this morning and he's come out of the Amethyst in great shape. Johnny (Murtagh, jockey) is very happy with him. "It was a good run behind Famous Name, who is so good around Leopardstown, and we will look at Pattern company again, I'm sure. "At the moment, though, it makes sense to take advantage of his rating and have a look at a big handicap prize like this one."
