Lilac impresses in French 1000

Andre Fabre's Golden Lilac maintained her unbeaten record with an impressive success in the Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas) at Longchamp this afternoon.

The daughter of Galileo is now four wins from four starts, and scored here despite racing keenly under Olivier Peslier.

The 5/2 favourite hit the front two furlongs out and ran on strongly to beat

pacemaker Glorious Sight (33/1) by three lengths, with Aidan O'Brien's Wild Wind (16/1) a further half length away in third.

Ed Dunlop's Sharnberry fared best of the British contingent in fifth, with Maqaasid, Zoowraa and Rimth all well-held further back.

The major disappointment for the home team was Helleborine.
