Listowel spring-board to York's Ebor meeting for Admiral Long-standing Yorkshire owner/breeder Reg Bond had a race run in his memory at York yesterday and today his familiar black and yellow livery were carried to success by Billy Lee on Admiral Churchill in the Coco At The Arcade Race at Listowel. Lee soon had the Paddy Twomey representative travelling well in front, and the same couldn't be said of all four here, most notably favourite Nobler labouring for much of the mile contest under Wayne Hassett. Admiral Churchill (13/8) looked good from early in the straight and so it transpired as he stayed on well to defeat his aforementioned rival by three and a quarter lengths. "He is a nice horse, is progressive and stepped up to a mile today. I think he likes these turning tracks and the only two runs I wasn't mad about came at the Curragh," said Twomey. "Charlie (Bond, owner and son of Reg) is based in Yorkshire, likes running horses at those tracks in York so I'd imagine he'll now be going through the programme book especially for the upcoming Ebor meeting." The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Raceday Stewards that Nobler (GER) trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien was found to be a gelding and not a colt as shown on the passport presented. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards fined the trainer €130 in accordance with the provisions of Rule 148(xii). Prior to the start of this race, the Clerk of the Course changed the going to good, good to yielding in places. M.W Hassett, rider of Nobler (GER), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slow out of the stalls. (TW & EM)
