After some good efforts when making the frame at her local track, Lilac Lady (8/1, from 11s before the off) was a well-received winner of the second division of Sligo's Kilcawley Construction Handicap Hurdle, over two and a-half miles.

Fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time, the Churchill mare was another on the afternoon to be at the head of affairs throughout and, having disputed the lead, took over before two out to score by three and a-quarter lengths from Poppycon

Making the breakthrough on her eighth start in this discipline, the six-year-old is trained by Mark McNiff for Janice and John Doyle.

Jockey Alan King commented "She deserved that and we thought the step up in trip would suit her, because she'd been hitting the line hard in her races.

"Good ground is important to her and I think she can go forward from this. I'd say this trip is perfect for her at the moment."
