Lombardi Trophy overturns Game Point form After a couple of fourth places in maidens at Leopardstown, Donnacha O'Brien's Lombardi Trophy progressed to land the Fairways Hotel Dundalk Maiden over an extended 10-furlongs on the Polytrack. The 9/2 shot overturned previous form with 8/11 favourite Game Point in this contest. The pair duelled for the honours in the final furlong and it was Lombardi Trophy who held on by a neck from the favourite. Jockey Paddy Harnett said: "A good performance. He has come forward from his first two runs, he ran in two good maidens which worked out very well so it was nice to get his head in front today. He's learning the whole time. "He was very green the first day. He came forward again into his second run and was only beaten a length by Game Point (on debut at Leopardstown when Game Point came in second). I was confident, I had ridden him on in his last couple of pieces of work and he felt great at home. "He was in a good place today. "He has had a good look the whole way round. Every furlong marker there was a shadow from the gorgeous day we have here today , so he was having a good look at them as well. He's very babyish. "It is nice to ride on by Galileo and win on one, so it is nice to have that on the CV." The Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Superbowl.
