Lordan doubles up as Pierre Bonnard wins maiden Having landed the Claimer earlier on the afternoon, jockey Wayne Lordan completed a double as Pierrre Bonnard readily justified favouritism in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk. Mid division on his introduction at Leopardstown last month, the Aidan O'Brien trained colt was sent off 6/5f to make the breakthrough at the second attempt. Lordan was always prominent on the son of Camelot, chasing leader Prospect Thunder before coming through to take over with a furlong to race. Keeping on well inside the final furlong, Pierre Bonnard beat Shaihaan by two-and-a-quarter lengths. Stable representative Chris Armstrong said: "He's a lovely horse. "Obviously, Wayne rode him in the maiden at Leopardstown and the form has worked out well. Wayne came in off him that day and absolutely loved him. He said he's a great mover and he'll handle quick ground and an ease in the ground. "We thought coming here the trip would suit him lovely. If he handled the ground, we thought he would be very hard to beat. Also the big incentive of the Goffs Bonus - there was no point in leaving an extra 50k behind. "On paper, it looked a very good maiden and especially when they were walking around the ring. "He has got a host of options this year and he's one to really look forward to next year. He should be a lovely middle-distance horse for next year. "I asked Wayne if he could drop back to seven (furlongs)for the Million (Goffs Million) and he said he could. "We will see how they all are after the weekend and see where they slot in. It is a good problem to have." Additional reporting by Michael Graham.
