Charlie Luciano pulled clear in good style to claim the beginners chase at Kilbeggan tonight.

Noel Meade ’s charge was prominent early in the three-mile-one contest before tucking in behind the leaders.

Conor Stone-Walsh sent his mount to the front going to the last fence and the 4/1 shot stayed on strongly to the line to post a nine-length success over Scalpnagoon

“It was a good performance. I was delighted we were going slow because obviously he had Flat form,” said Stone Walsh.

“I thought if we could go as slow as we can he’d surely beat them in a sprint. He jumped super as well and stayed on strongly.

“I suppose the handicaps were just a bit more competitive and up in trip in that grade it really suited him today.

“To be fair he wasn’t stopping and it was a good performance.”
