Lucky escape for Hanagan

Paul Hanagan suffered no worse than a bang on the head in a frightening fall at York, it emerged today.

Tests revealed he had a lucky escape from serious injury when thrown from Ballet Master before the third race on Saturday.

The apprentice was taken to hospital by ambulance but his trainer Richard Fahey said this morning: 'He`s fine and he came home last night.

'They checked him over and he has just got a bang on the head.

'He will be stood down for three weeks which is a bit of shame but it could have been a lot worse.'
