Lucky escape for Kinsella

Irish apprentice David Kinsella was back at work this morning riding out for boss Eric Wheeler after escaping injury in a terrifying car crash.

The 20-year-old jockey, from Dublin, was en-route to Thirsk to ride eventual winner Kestral in the feature Carlisle Bell on Wednesday when he skidded on a greasy road and overturned the car three times, writing it off.

Wheeler said today: 'He`s been very lucky, he hit a slippery patch on the road and went over but there`s not a scratch on him and he`s back at work already.

'It`s a lesson to be learned and I`ve already told him that there`s no point me giving him a rollicking.

'He`s just annoyed that he missed a winning ride but he`s got time on his side and he`ll make a jockey - I`ve got two grand kids in him and Stephen (Carson).'

Dancing Mystery, the star of Wheeler`s Pangbourne team, heads for the Porcelenosa Sprint, a Listed contest at Sandown on Eclipse day next weekend.

'I`m a bit annoyed to have missed the deadline forHong Kong with him but I hope I can find a little race for him over here,' added the trainer.

'The handicapper got hold of him after we had a lot of fun with him last year (winning six times) but he`s in good form and we`ll go to Sandown.'
