Doc Holliday gave trainer Eddie Lynam a double at Dundalk as Robbie Downey steered the 2/1 favourite home in the seven furlong rated race.

Eddie Lynam said: “He’s (Robbie Downey) a great kid. He has a great attitude, rides well and has plenty of confidence.

“We are on a good run, that’s 41 winners for the year. Normally I look forward to the new year, but I won’t this year as we’ll be going back to zero.

“This horse is in again on Wednesday.”

There was quite a plunge on Doc Holliday who was 4/1 in morning trading before opening at 11/4 on course and being backed down to 2/1. Lynam had won the first race on the card with Mr Good Guy

Downey also won on Doc Holliday when he last raced here at the start of October in a mile handicap. This winner kept seven-pound claimer Downey at the top in the flat jockeys’ all-weather title race with five successes from nine rides. Ningaloo Reef with Conor Hoban deputising for the injured Gary Phillips, completed the placings in third at 5/1.
