Lynam feels Mast needs comeback run Trainer Eddie Lynam believes top-class sprinter Balmont Mast is likely to improve for the run as he makes his return to action in the Newbridge Grassroots Festival Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday. The five-year-old ran a number of excellent races in defeat in Dubai during the winter, not least when beaten just a neck in the Group One Golden Shaheen on World Cup night. Balmont Mast then finished a fair fourth in the Krisflyer International Sprint at Kranji in Singapore in May and he makes his first appearance since in this weekend's six-furlong Group Three. Lynam said: "He's in great order, but he is very heavy at the moment as it's his first run since Singapore. "You would imagine he will improve for the run. Hopefully it will blow the cobwebs away and if he can get involved that will be a nice bonus." Lynam also runs the consistent Boston Rocker in the same race, and said: "She worked nicely in the visor earlier in the week so we're trying her in that. She has a good draw so we'll see how it goes." Tommy Stack is doubled-handed, running the hat-trick seeking Cape Of Approval and Scream Blue Murder. Stack's son and assistant, Fozzy, said: "We're happy with Cape Of Approval. He hasn't run in a while as he needs to get his toe in. It'll be good to get him out again and get a run into him. "It's tough for the three-year-old fillies at this time of year, but she (Scream Blue Murder) had a good run in the Flying Five and wasn't beaten that far. "She won't mind the bit of juice in the ground." County Tipperary handler David Marnane is represented by Dandy Boy and Nocturnal Affair. He said: "It wasn't ideal at the start last time for Dandy Boy where Fergal (Lynch) had a hood thrown on to his head. It cost him a couple of lengths and he came home well. "It was a good race, and Slade Power has done the form no harm since. "We freshened him up a lot from Royal Ascot where we thought he ran a bit flat, and he's fresh coming here again. "Nocturnal Affair's best two runs have been at the Curragh this year. "He disappointed us a bit at Fairyhouse and was really disappointing at Haydock where I don't know what went wrong as he normally runs his race. "He showed more of his old sparkle the last day." Russian Soul is rarely out of the frame and his trainer Mick Halford said: "As far as sprinters go he's amazingly consistent and he seems in good form. "He's well drawn and the ground should be fine, so we're hoping for a good run. "This will probably be his last run before we give him a bit of a break and get him ready to go to Dubai." Hitchens, Maarek and Cristoforo Colombo are other contenders in a 14-runner field.
