MAGELTA WINS LINGFIELD OPENER Favourite backers got off to a good start when Magelta finished strongly to land the opening Ladbroke All-Weather Trophy Handicap at Lingfield today.The win adds to his Wolverhampton victory gained earlier this week.Lee Newman sent Richard Hannon`s 15-8 market leader ahead inside the final furlong to beat Two Step by a length and three-quarters.The trainer`s son Richard said: 'He is a big chap and was perhaps a bit weak as a two-year-old.'I would say that he is better than all-weather class and we should find a nice race for him next year. He is related to seven-furlong types and should get further than this mile.'
