MUSIC LAME AFTER GREENHAM DEFEAT There may have been a valid excuse for the shock defeat of Distant Music in the Lane's End Greenham Stakes at Newmarket on Tuesday, it emerged today. Sent off at 8-13 last season's outstanding juvenile and winter favourite for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas went down by a head to Barathea Guest in the Group Three contest. However in a statement to PA Sport the colt's trainer Barry Hills said: "Distant Music returned from Newmarket and was found to be lame on his off-fore foot the following day. On examination there was some congealed blood in the foot. "There has been significant improvement over the last 24 hours and hopefully we will be able to get a shoe back on him on Sunday or Monday. "This may well be a reason for his lack-lustre display last Tuesday. "I will keep the Press Association informed of any further developments." Following his defeat Distant Music has been eased from 9-4 to 3-1 by Ladbrokes in the betting for the 2000 Guineas.
