MUWAKLEH ODDS CUT

Muwakleh has been cut to 16 to 1 from 25 to 1 with Ladbrokes for the Sagitta 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket following an impressive win in the UAE 1000 Guineas at Nad Al Sheba yesterday.

The full-sister to 1999 Dubai World Cup hero Almutawakel, winner of her only previous start, was handy from the start of the mile event.

Although Frankie Dettori put down a challenge on newcomer Laoub over a furlong out, Muwakleh quickly swept her aside to win easily under Richard Hills.

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor was responsible for the first three home with 4 to 7 winner, owned by Hamdan Al Maktoum, taking the #100,000 prize from Zahwah (John Carroll), who edged out Laoub for second place.

Compton Bolter will warm up for the Dubai World Cup meeting at Nad Al Sheba in the #50,000 Bet Direct Winter Derby at Lingfield Park tomorrow, for which the four-year-old is the sponsor`s 11 to 8 favourite.

'Jamie Spencer will ride him at Lingfield. He won on him at Newbury and rode him in the Champion Stakes,' trainer Gerard Butler said yesterday.

'I`ve been very pleased with him and hopefully he`ll give a good account of himself. Then at 3.00 a.m. on Monday he leaves for Dubai where he will run in the Godolphin Mile on the Saturday.'
