Madden recuperating after Sligo fall Fears that Niall "Slippers" Madden may have broken a vertebra at Sligo yesterday were thankfully misplaced after x-rays gave him the all clear. Madden took a nasty fall when unseated from Merdaam at the first flight in the opening maiden hurdle at the north-western track, and was slightly concussed in the incident. Turf Club doctor Adrian McGoldrick said yesterday evening; "Niall has not broken any vertebrae but I am still a bit concerned about swelling in an ankle. He will probably have further tests and will certainly be out for six days due to concussion."
