Magnetic Force (8/1) and Brien Kane teamed up to land the two mile Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle in Cork for trainer Robbie Hennessy.

The nine-year-old grey gelding travelled well into second behind front-running Rock On Bach approaching the third last.

A good jump at the penultimate flight saw Magnetic Force move ahead of Rock On Bach coming to the last. Konig Hall made significant inroads to be just a length in arrears at that hurdle. Kane got into the drive position on the run-in and his mount stayed on stoutly to fend off Konig Hall by three parts of a length. The runner-up went off the 5/2 favourite from 7/2.

Rock On Bach was a neck further away in third at 33/1.

Robbie Hennessy said: "He likes it here and I got one of the better jockeys for the race. Brien came and rode him yesterday and got a feel for him as he can be quirky.

"Today's ground was absolutely perfect for him and he'll keep on the go as long as he gets his ground."
