Maguire escapes injury

Irish jockey Jason Maguire has escaped serious injury to his shoulder following a fall at Cartmel on Saturday.

The Grand National-winning jockey left the rural venue by air ambulance after he parted company from the Cathy Hamilton-trained Keyneema at the 10th fence of the Grant Thornton Handicap Chase.

Maguire was able to walk into the ambulance with his arm in a sling, amid initial fears he may have dislocated his shoulder.

But his agent, Chris Broad, said this morning: "He's stiff and sore, but thankfully there's nothing broken.

"The doctors checked him over, and he was released from hospital on Saturday night.

"He'll probably just have a few days off now, which is as good an outcome as we could have expected."

County Meath born Maguire had a working holiday back in Ireland at the start of August when he rode at Kilbeggan and Downpatrick.
