Maiden success for Marians Gal Five-year-old mare Marians Gal (6/1) registered a belated first success today, landing Dundalk’s Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Handicap (Div I) for trainer Kevin Smith and 7lb claimer Julian Pietropaolo. The daughter of Kuroshio had finished a best-placed third in three of 19 previous career starts and today, having dropped from an initial rating of 60 to 46, broke smartly and eventually scored easily from Tero D’rosa. Smith said "from a bad draw, Julian got her across and he made it look easy. He is talented, but is in the right place (Joseph O'Brien's). He said that she picked up really well for one in that grade. "I'm delighted for Peter (Durnin, owner) who is a brother-in-law of mine.
