Major revamp to stableyard at Ballinrobe Stablestaff travelling to Ballinrobe for their first meeting in 2016 this Friday will arrive to much improved stableyard facilities at the County Mayo track. A major revamp has taken place over the winter with new doors and roofing on the stables, and there are also new Turf Club security offices. This is just the latest stage in developments at Ballinrobe that has seen over six million euro spent in recent years. Ballinrobe Manager John Flannelly said, “We are just putting the finishing touches to the stable area. There are new wash bays, and the whole yard has been tarmacked.” Friday’s seven-race National Hunt card is the first of ten meetings at Ballinrobe this year with nearly a million euro in prize-money up for grabs in 2016. Flannelly is looking forward to getting the season underway, and reports no problems with ground conditions. “We had some rain on Monday night into Tuesday morning but it has been dry since. The ground is heavy, and the chase races will be on the outer loop and the hurdle races on the inner loop.”
