Man Mighty after World

Mighty Man is all set for Aintree after coming out of his Ladbrokes World Hurdle reappearance at the Cheltenham Festival with flying colours.

Henry Daly's nine-year-old was off the track for nearly two years with a tendon injury sustained at the Punchestown Festival in April 2007 but finished a creditable fifth at Prestbury Park on his return last week.

The Shropshire handler has been happy with his charge since the contest, won by Paul Nicholls' Big Buck's.

He told sportinglife.com: "Touch wood he's come out of the race really well. His legs feel good, everything's fine, I'm delighted with him really.

"My initial reaction was a mixture of relief and delight. I was so happy everything went well for him.

"He ran a cracking race. It was a competitive renewal of the World Hurdle and he ran really well.

"Sam got off him and said 'thanks very much I enjoyed that!' He was delighted with him."

All roads now lead to Aintree for Mighty Man, where he has won three times from three starts including two Liverpool Hurdles, with the Grade Two contest his next target.

"Aintree has always been the plan," Daly continued. "It was always the plan rather oddly to have a prep race in the World Hurdle. It's not the most obvious place for a prep race but there wasn't any other option.

"He seems to enjoy Aintree and it seems to suit him so we're looking forward to that now."
