Marina to turn out again for Lexus

The rejuvenated Glencove Marina is set to take his chance in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown on Tuesday week after a fine effort in defeat at Fairyhouse last time.

Eoin Griffin's charge just failed to quicken in a slowly run John Durkan Memorial Chase last Wednesday, finishing a commendable fourth behind Tranquil Sea in the Grade One event.

He is now set for a step up in trip in the Lexus but Griffin is hoping the three-miles will prove no problem to the Spectrum gelding.

“He's in good order and came out of the race well. We were happy enough with the run,” said Griffin.

“The race was run at a bit too steady of a pace. They just quickened up the last two furlongs and he got caught a bit flat footed.

“He wasn't beaten too far though. He'll take his chance in the Lexus. It's three miles for the first time but hopefully that shouldn't be an issue.

“He relaxes well and it shouldn't be a problem dropping in and taking our time. There are only 13 days between the races but hopefully that won't be an issue.

“It was nice to get the win in Thurles with him and the run the other day was respectable.”
