The market principals dominated in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, with Iron Fist ultimately getting the better of Hellorhighwater

Twice placed in seven previous starts, the Jessica Harrington-trained victor was expected to make the breakthrough this evening and was returned the 5/4 favourite, from early shows of 2/1.

Soon in front under Shane Foley, the New Bay gelding made virtually all in the colours of Anamoine Limited and while tackled from the two-furlong pole, he battled on gamely when ridden, coming home three-quarters of a length to the good.

The aforementioned runner-up was a 2/1 chance under Robert Whearty for Gavin Cromwell, with the front pair drawing 12-lengths clear of No Such Thing (50/1) in third.

"At long last! He actually ran very well in the big handicap on Derby Weekend as he met a lot of traffic trouble," Kate Harrington reflected.

"He is a nice horse who has promised an awful lot and his two-year-old work was very good so he had a lot of fancy entries.

"It is nice to see him get his head in front now and hopefully he will keep progressing. I'd imagine he'll go back to handicaps now and that little ease in the ground is key.

"Mrs Patino has been a long serving customer of ours and is an amazing lady, who has always bred her own horses. She has still got all the families so it is great to see them come back around, and she keeps breeding good ones."
