Marmalade and Approach set for rematch

Duke Of Marmalade and New Approach could be on course for a fascinating rematch in Saturday's Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Aidan O'Brien's Duke Of Marmalade took his Group One tally for the season to five when landing the Juddmonte International at Newmarket, with Vodafone Derby hero New Approach only third on his first run since Epsom.

O'Brien has also left in Henrythenavigator, himself a winner of four top-level contests this term including the English and Irish 2000 Guineas.

The Ballydoyle maestro is also represented by King Of Rome, Red Rock Canyon and Zulu Chief, while Multidimensional and Traffic Guard are the two possible British raiders.

The 11-strong field is completed by Lord Admiral, Mores Wells and She's Our Mark.

Kevin Prendergast admits Mores Wells would face a stiff task against some of the principals, but the four-year-old's owners were keen to leave him in the feature event.

"We left him in the race and I we will have a look at it later in the week and see how it looks," said Prendergast.

"Obviously it looks very hot and I was planning to run him in the Irish St Leger a week later, but the owner pays the bills.

"He won nicely at Leopardstown last time over a mile and a half and was always travelling well.

"He has won over a mile and quarter a couple of times though and has plenty of pace so the trip is not really a concern."
