Marnane's charge out to make history Celtic Man will aim to become the first Irish-trained winner of the £150,000 totepool Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar on Saturday. Trainer David Marnane is sending two runners over from his Bansha base in County Tipperary, with stable stalwart Dandy Boy running in the Listed Guisborough Stakes earlier on the card. Celtic Man will have the aid of first-time blinkers and while the juvenile has only won one of his six starts, there are pieces of form which give him a decent chance, not least when only four lengths behind Great White Eagle at Naas in August. "We've put the blinkers on him just to see if they bring about any improvement," said Marnane. "He's got a good rating so he's better off running in a race like this than in a nursery with top weight. "Last time out at Dundalk he ran well under top weight, beaten just over a length so he wasn't beaten far. "He's got a good draw (10), so they tell me, and it's a big pot - if he can get in the money I'd be delighted." Richard Hannon relies upon Anticipated, who emerges as the top runner on the ratings with a mark of 106. The Whipper colt won his first two outings, was placed at Royal Ascot, and finished a narrow second in the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. He has subsequently been well beaten in the Prix Morny and Mill Reef Stakes, but Hannon is hoping his superior form can help Anticipated make his mark. He said: "Anticipated goes for the big bucks in the totepool Trophy at Redcar. "He has been flying in the fast lane, running in Group races, and he comes out near the top here on ratings, so, hopefully, he'll be in the money. Kieran O'Neill rides."
