Alfredo Arcano could return to Britain for the Chester May meeting following his fine effort in the All-Weather Sprint Championships.

David Marnane is eyeing the Gately Plc Handicap over the fast, turning five furlongs on the Roodee after he finished fourth behind the ultra-speedy Kachy at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Marnane is hoping to cash in on Alfredo Arcano's lower mark on turf as he feels the five-year-old is effective on any surface.

"He came home very well out of it and he's in good nick. We were delighted with the run," said the County Tipperary handler.

"I just felt on the day we probably shot ourselves in the foot taking on that superstar horse (Kachy).

"I've watched the race several times and of the three horses that went after him two finished last and second-last and our lad only ran out of petrol in the last 150 to 200 yards.

"He's a young horse, I was delighted with the run. We learnt a bit about him. He did good fractions there and had no problem lying up. he’s a decent horse in his own right.

"He's rated 95 on the turf so the plan is to bring him to Chester for a five-furlong handicap on the Thursday.

"He's run very well on turf in Dubai, he's not just an all-weather horse. I think he's better on the turn than going straight and is equally effective on turf."

Marnane explained why he is targeting Chester.

"He's 9lb lower on turf than he is on the dirt and Oisin (Orr) can claim his 3lb he couldn't the other day. That’s a 12lb swing around," he said.

"It's a good pot and we like to have a runner there if we have one.

"The plan is he goes to Chester and then we'll see. He's been on the go for a while. He's a very likeable horse.

"He's won three different currencies - euros, dollars and sterling - in the space of three months."
